Dry eyes stare blankly at
an empty screen.
The title, "Lit Essay #2"
Fingers numb from lack of movement.
I move the mouse to click back
to Netflix.
-----
My bed is warm.
My mind is empty.
I am at peace.
-----
I went swimming.
It was awful.
So awful.
------
The crimson sky
slowly peaks through
the barren frosted
tree limbs, as the
cold morning transitions
into a gleaming winter
day.
-----
We stared into each
other's eyes. Both waiting,
waiting, for me to
stab the canvas with
my colored knife.

The sweet scent of pancakes
wafts and flows through the
house.
Conquering the air vents,
it overtakes my olfactory glands.
Every drawn breath increases my
hunger, and I float down
on a dense cloud of pancakes
towards the kitchen.
-----
I saw a man
with two
geese in his
shopping cart.
-----
Hovering above the fountain
the ghost men come to
see, for I have seen a
light that doth shine
upon us all.

Freshly fallen
snow creating
a blank canvas
to repaint the
world.
-----
Bundled under
a tower of blankets,
frost forming on
my window as the
snow falls in the
backdrop behind it.
-----
My backyard smells like clean
laundry and quiet.
The snow is
suffocating teh trees and
choking all sounds until
it's so silent, I can hear
snowflakes hitting the ground.
It's dark;
the snow sparkles.
My backyard is pristine.
-----
Snow covers the ground.
Roads are icy and dangerous,
but we still take the
adventure to see
each other.
All of this
just for nervous
glances over bowls
of mac and cheese.

The sky reached
westward for new clothes,
smothering itself
with bright colors.
-----
The warm smell
of the gooey chocolate
foat through the
air like a comforting
reminder:
everything
is okay.
-----
Powdered sugar
floats down on a frozen pastry.
The sweetened Earth rests
below the steaming
teapot-houses above.
-----
The TV is the only thing
that lights up my room
as the raging snow
furthers my entrapment.

Cleats stomping
on polo grass
as mountains tower
in the background
alongside
palm trees.
-----
The clouds cry
over a black and white sky
while the
sun
hides in fear
of its
sorrow.
-----
As the waves crashed and cracked
against the black, sun-beaten boulders,
a face,
too badly beaten to make out,
climbs over these stoic rocks
to gain a view of the massive expanse
of water before him.
-----
Bleak walls littered with
pseudo-inspirational posters and
meaningless bits of information.
Painfully fluorescent lighting
reflecting off bleached tiles that
hurt my eyes.
I'm so tired.

And then the person
and the bed became
one.
The blankets wrapped tightly.
The pillows were fluffled
& Netflix and snacks
were at the ready.
-----
The skyscrapers towered
above me.
Busy people swarmed
around me,
not even stopping to apologize
to the people they ran into.
Taxis honked,
vendors yelled,
and I stood in teh middle
of it all
silently.
-----
the horse's breath
came out
in a huge cloud
as he stood
in the
cold.
